"To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." — Ephesians 3:21
What comes to mind when you hear the word church? Perhaps you think of a building, a Sunday morning worship service, or a familiar group of people. But Ephesians 3 reminds us that the church is something far greater than a place we attend. The church is God's people, brought together through Jesus Christ to display His love, share His truth, and bring glory to His name.
In Ephesians 3, Paul reveals God's wonderful plan to bring people together through Christ. Regardless of their background, they can become part of God's family through faith in Jesus. The church is a living testimony of God's grace; a place where we grow in our understanding of His love, encourage one another, and discover the strength He provides.
Paul also reminds us that God's love is greater than we can fully comprehend. In verses 17–19, he prays that believers would be rooted and grounded in love and come to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge. Imagine what our churches and communities would look like if we lived each day with a deeper understanding of that love!
The church isn't simply a place where we gather; it's a people called to make a difference. We do this when we pray for one another, serve with willing hearts, encourage those who are struggling, welcome those who feel alone, and share the hope of Jesus with others. Every act of faithfulness, no matter how small it may seem, can help others see Christ.
As we look ahead, let's remember that God has placed us together for a purpose. We each have a part to play in His work. We don't have to be perfect, have all the answers, or possess extraordinary abilities. We simply need to be willing to let Christ work through us.
May Abundant Life Church be a place where people experience the love of Jesus, grow stronger in their faith, and find encouragement to live out God's purpose. And may everything we do point others to Him!
A Thought to Carry with You: What is one way you can help someone experience the love of Christ this week? A simple word of encouragement, a prayer, an act of kindness, or an invitation to church may be just what someone needs.
